I decided to take the term 'Transition' in it's broadest sense, looking at it in terms of physical change (transition); how applying makeup, costume, jewelry can alter one's appearance entirely.

I decided to take the term 'Transition' in it's broadest sense, looking at it in terms of physical change (transition); how applying makeup, costume, jewelry can alter one's appearance entirely.
I also looked into the idea that creating a self portrait, is in a sense, creating a transition from real life, into a 2Dimensional piece. 
By taking this concept a little further, I looked at ways to modernise traditional paintings; up to date clothing, and by bringing elements of modern culture into the piece. In particular I tried to draw some inspiration from graffiti, binge drinking, smoking, sexuality etc.
